Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)

The Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Practice Team is committed to providing comprehensive legal support to both local and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

We offer legal guidance on the registration process for new civil society organizations, helping them navigate the regulatory requirements set by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations. We also provide ongoing advice on compliance with Ethiopian law, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations.

We assist CSOs in drafting and reviewing governance documents, such as bylaws and internal policies, to ensure alignment with Ethiopian law and international best practices.

We support CSOs in navigating tax regulations, advising on tax-exempt status, VAT, and other foreign exchange matters.

We assist CSOs in managing employment-related matters, including drafting employment contracts and policies, advising on employment issues, and ensuring the compliance of CSOs.

For CSOs operating across borders or collaborating with international partners, we provide assistance in reviewing and preparing partnership agreements, and other relevant documents ensuring compliance with international standards for NGOs.
